Pedagogy Principle #4-Professionalism
A teacher needs to be an expert in a topic that they are introducing to their students. An expert does not need to be someone who has spent 10,000 hours doing something or studying something, as a teacher it is someone who believes in what they are studying/teaching. Professionalism doesn't begin with walking in buttoned up and buckled shoes. Professionalism begins with smile that spreads across a teacher's face as they greet their class at the beginning of the day. Carrying oneself as a professional is being understanding and versatile in a learning community. A teacher's roles are far surpassing of their title and its important that a teacher lives up to it. Everyday in this profession we find ourselves do these five things, teach, empower, advocate, challenge, and harmonize.
