HPE I-S: Module 4 (Consent Culture)

 As per task,

  1.  Read the OPHEA Consent Culture in the “New Normal” (Links to an external site.) to deepen your knowledge of the topic of consent.
  2. In a blank document, summarize the Most Impactful Point (MIP) in 2-3 sentences considering how this article can inform good practices around teaching consent education.

As per discussion,

"Consent culture drives home the idea that 'No means no', and with the world moving into the 'new normal' there is a need to reevaluate the way things were and amend how we as educators educate on situations that have developed into something worse than what they were prior to 2020.

The article discusses the examples of proms, nudes and personal relationships in general. As HPE CT's this article can allow teachers opportunities to create conversations surrounding why and what from a student's perspective and in hopes develop the voice to question it themselves through a health based physical education model. In a manner of creating the need to understand and intrinsic value of the learning experience, the student will (ideally) initiate application of the learning into their own life. Creating a culture within a school that examines these behaviours and works toward educating these behaviours into something that is not negative, that would hopefully can momentum and become cyclical or a learned community behaviour."
